Name the kingdom
From Towers
The Political Group from the Vise Campaign plan to role-play a group of siblings, all children of a king of a smaller kingdom in the Towerlands.
What should we call that kingdom?
This holds true for both kingdom and keep but... is there to be some sort of overarching theme or secret? Just to be evil, foreshadow... using the made up language, of course, and hide it deeply so you can point back afterwards and ask how they missed it. *g*

- That's cool. I'll have to give it some thought. Of course, if there's some big secret, I don't want to give it away!

This is a closed issue now. It'll be called the Kingdom of Essonay, after the family line. - Adam 17:45, 20 Sep 2004 (EDT)
The characters will spend a lot of time at their father's keep. In my original notes, I'd called it Turan Keep, but I don't especially like that.
What should we call the keep?
I like the sound of 'Turan Keep' but I thought it sounds too much like the Turin shroud. The keep, in any case, has grown into a full-sized castle (see the Essonay page for a picture). So we still need a name for it. If I don't get any clever ideas, I'll probably call it 'Essonay Castle.'

Personally am more fond of the words "hold" and "keep" than "castle. And using the whole name of the kingdom just seems awkward to me(don't ask me why). So I'd suggest something along the lines of:
- The Ess Keep/Hold
- -(or if using castle)
- Castle Ess
- -(using Essonay may work here as well)
Somehow the word Essonay seems a mouthful for me, so language-wise(did skim thru the kingdom of Essonay part and I think this wasn't covered there) as language is oft weird and arbitrary, the people of Essonay could be called Essar and things made there essan(eg essan steel etc.) Just an idea.

- I do want to work in a lot of -hold and -keep suffixes, and possibly some -spire and -tor endings, too. I'm wondering what other people think?
- I like the idea of a special name for the people, except that the castle is named for the king that runs the kingdom (Rusland Essonay) and his family. But it might be useful to have "essonar steel" or somesuch to denote products from the region.

- After a bit of thinking and your comments. A minor idea occured to me. "Ess" could be used as a generic derogatory term, referring to anyone/thing from the Essonay region, used by enemies and rivals or anyone who doesn't like them for one reason or another.

- That's a cool idea. Very useable.
