This page lists the rulebooks and other references that are used in this campaign or that may be useful for play. The page also describes a system for categorizing rules, and lists rule reference abbreviations that you might see elsewhere.
Categories
I classify rules books into several categories.
Core
Core books are used wholesale. Every standard rule in the book is in effect except where otherwise stated. Rules within that are marked as "optional" or "variants" are not in effect unless this guide explicitly says they are used. A player who doesn’t own and understand this book will be at a disadvantage.
Accepted
Accepted books are used wholesale. They are used the same way Core books are but a player who doesn’t own one will not be at a significant disadvantage. Owning a copy may be helpful though. The DM will make the entire text available to players as needed.
Integrated
Integrated books provide many new rules. This guide will reference rules in an Integrated book many times. Only those rules that this guide says are used are accepted in the campaign. A player does not need to own this book but it may be helpful. The DM will make the entire text available to players as needed.
Referenced
Referenced books provide a small number of new rules. Only those rules that this guide says are used are accepted in the campaign. Owning this book will probably provide little value to the player. The DM will make the referenced text (if not the entire text) available to players as needed.
List of Canonical Resources
This campaign guide refers to a number of other books from Wizards of the Coast and other publishers. The text references other sources using an abbreviated format: an abbreviated form of the book's title and the page number in parentheses. For example, a mention of the Urban Tracking feat will have "(UA56)" after it; this means Unearthed Arcana, page 56.
The following resources are considered useful to one degree or another for the Thousand Towers campaign.
